Blog 18: Week of 03/13/22

What a week! It was a long week, and it’s truly not over yet. This was the week that my little brother, Carson, was here. This is like the first time that I have been a tour guide to a place that I have only been at for 2 months. I think back to other times I have been a tour guide; most years at camp, showing Baylor people places in Waco, and showing off Wonderland to friends. All these are place I have spent years and years at and are MUCH smaller than New York.

I am going to take on the challenge of writing this Blog within an hour. On my mark, get set, GO!

Monday I had work, followed by class. In class though we were missing like 5 students, which in normal school is normal, but we only have 13 students so its close to half. We got out pretty early so Andy and I stayed and talked to Ben. Afterwards I got to talk with Carson about what he did. If you want to know what he did you will have to read his Blog. That day Calder also got into town, Calder is a good friend of Andy from the Theatre program. They had some big theatre thing in NY. If you want to know about THAT then you’ll have to read Andy’s blog. That night we all played Beans, and let me tell you, I have never played a more venomous game of beans before. It was intense, I thought there would be a fight. Calder seemed mad. I did end up winning though, so it was still fun. It’s been a long time since I have lost a game of Beans. Tuesday Carson and I ate the best brisket I’ve ever had. It was so darn good. The mac and cheese was also insanely good. The place is called Mable’s, in Brooklyn. We then went to Central park and Rockefeller Center. So both the “centrals.” That night we went and watched The Batman which was pretty good. I enjoyed watching it, but I don’t know if I’ll watch it again any time soon. Wednesday I had work for the bulk of the day. Basically all day was waiting for the night so we could play trivia at Sunswick. I do believe Sunswick has become my favorite place in NY, the food is good, the drinks are fair, and the trivia is fun. We did pretty darn good this time, but again, we fell apart in the last couple rounds. We did end up getting 4th place this time. One day we will win. Thursday was a pretty good day, we went and ate lunch at John’s Pizzaria before watching Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Super good. I have been really wanting to see it, so I’m glad I got to see it with Carson. Thursday night we had class and Carson had a zoom call. That night we watched The Departed, my personal favorite movie of all time. I am so happy I got to watch it with Carson for his first time. It was just as good as ever this time around. Friday I had work for the better part of the day. Around 3:00 Morgan and her friend Madden got into town, so they hung out as Andy and I finished our work. Carson and I that night went into China town to eat and see. It was a good last night with him. Saturday was the day Carson was going to leave, so we took it easy. I also felt really sick, so I needed sleep. His flight was an hour later than we expected so we watched Shawshank Redemption, which was Carson’s first time also. Super good. He then left me. Gone, back to Waco. I am going to miss that kid, but I am stoked to not have a loud snoring noise in my room anymore while I’m trying to sleep. Saturday night I went with Andy, Morgan, and Madden to eat and then watch Aladdin on Broadway. It was really pretty, and had tons of potential, but really lack luster in a couple ways. 1, the acting of the lead two (not genie) was poor. 2, the sword fight/chase scene was miserable, like the opening scene with aladdin. 3, most importantly, the flying carpet was lame. It could’ve been great, but instead the carpet went up and fog covered the floor. That was it. The song was fast and there was no cool stage transitions, so it was lame. We ended the day getting Juniors, a cheesecake place. I slept in today because I still did not feel great. I tried to do homework, but ended up falling asleep for a couple hours. Now, I am writing this and coming to an end. I wanted to finish it before Walking Dead came on and I have just about done so. I did it in less than an hour which is impressive to me.

I’m now about to watch the walking dead, followed by Tick, Tick… Boom with andy and Morgan. I hope I start to feel well soon so I can do the rest of my homework and catch up to the world. Okay, see ya later!
