Blog 6: Week of 12/19/21
Whoops! I finally did it, took 6 weeks, but it happened. I forgot to write the blog yesterday. To be fair, now that school is out there’s not a ton that keeps up with my schedule, also the Browns didn’t play on Sunday so how was I supposed to know it was Sunday. Anyway, it was a pretty fun week, so let’s talk about it!
Monday I had to finish writing my pilot of Dating Abroad and that was the main thing I did that day. I also took my History of Radio final and practiced the guitar. Tuesday was my final final in Waco, which was naturally Guitar. I practiced for a couple hours then went up and did terribly, but got an A. So, who cares! I finished school in Waco. 22 years later here I am, never again to do school in Waco (hopefully). That night Donovan, Gavin, and myself celebrated the end of the semester with drinks and games. We played Beerio Cart, a version of Mario Cart where you have to finish your drink before you finish the race. You also cannot drink and drive so you have to take your hands off the controller in order to drink your drink. It was immensely challenging. Gavin threw up after race two and Donovan after race three. We then played a drinking game with Mario Party which was much more chill. Donovan was losing the entire game until the final five rounds where he came back and surpassed me. Cheap.
Wednesday was the Hay Ride and I spent most of the day driving around with Bob picking up wood and fire starters. Then Meredith, Zach, and I set up the fire and decorations ready for the Middle school group to come and sing Hymns. After they left the High school group came in to do the same. It was a pretty long day after we finished picking up and putting away. I was wiped. Thursday, I have no recollection of what I did Thursday to be honest. I probably watched How I Met Your Mother and played video games. Friday I picked up Carson and drove out to Frontier Camp for our Winter Staff retreat. It was really fun. I got to see all my camp friends and hang out for the weekend.
Friday night I got to play quarter back for a pick up game of Football. My team did lose, but I didn’t pick teams and it was pretty clear which team was more athletic (not mine). Saturday was the first cold day which was pretty exciting. It was all rainy and wet. We did work projects and my group was set to pick up trash along the road up to camp. I took my truck and kept it near to enable us to use trash bags and gloves. It was more fun than we expected, but also took a good long while, ending around 3:30 pm. Afterwards Ashley got myself, Karsten, and the new Program Directors together to plan a night game for that night. We came up with Speed-Seek/ Hide and Speed. Basically people got into groups of 3+ and had 5 minutes to hide anywhere around camp before the seekers were sent out. Each round was 20 minutes so every minute you stayed hidden was a point for your team. Once you are found you help the seekers and hopefully stop other people’s times. We had like 14 groups playing so lots of teams going out and playing. We played the game for like 2 hours and everyone was having a good time. One group went the entire time and was never found amassing 80 points. The winning team got free items from our store. It was a big success. It was awesome to see the last game I hosted at camp was fun and had everyone talking and bragging about their spots after each round and the following morning. Sunday I said my goodbyes to the friends that I made over the span of five years and it was sad. Carson and I then drove home.
Garrett came home from LA so he came over and we talked and played catch out at the park. I then went and ate with my Mom and brother as a celebration of finishing Waco College with a 4.0. It was my first 4.0 in college and I’m pretty proud of it. I then went with high school friends and watched Spiderman: No Way Home. Oh! Thursday night I watched spiderman with my brother and Father. So Sunday night was the second time to watch it. It was still good the second time and I got to see a couple friends that I haven’t seen in a long while.
So yeah, that was last week and now it’s Monday. I had a second round of interviews and now it’s time to watch the Browns game after their Covid week. Pray that we win, but I guess you already know if we did or did not. See ya!
