Blog 9: Week of 01/09/22

Hello and welcome from Utah. No, I am not mormon all of a sudden, instead I am skiing with my father and uncle. We got here on Tuesday after a couple days of moving my stuff entirely out of the apartment and into storage. It was a very busy week and it’s looking like that will continue on to this next week. So let’s talk about Utah.

Tuesday I met up with my dad to drive to Dallas for our flight. It took a while to get the rest of the way ready because he had a good amount of real estate work to do before we could leave. On the drive to Dallas we stopped by a house to show a client, the client very much enjoyed taking her time looking at everything. This put us in quite the rush as we raced to the airport. When we finally got there the security line was super long and we had a mother behind us yelling at her kid the entire time for being slow. Finally we got to our gate just for them to delay our flight for an hour. We flew Frontier with a connecting flight in Las Vegas. It was EXTREMELY clear that the people on the flight were flying budget to Las Vegas. Some trashy people. A family behind us were talking loud and gross the entire flight and then tried to shove past everyone as soon as the flight ended. I decided I was not going to move and they were pissed that someone could be so inconsiderate to not let them push past everyone. The grandmother threw a slew of insults at me and did not let it go until finally we left the plane. The next flight was much better as we got moved to the exit row with more leg room and empty seats next to us. Finally we landed in Salt Lake and drove to Park City to our place.

Wednesday was filled with errands of finding ski clothes and gear for the week. It took like 5 hours for us to get everything done and I was wiped after it. That night Uncle Glen and John got into town. My dad and I started The Power of the Dog. I had heard tons of great things about it, but holy crap it was SLOW. I think part of it was how tired we were, but after the first hour we had to stop watching because of how bored we were. At some point I will finish it, but I don’t know when. The following morning we woke up early and started skiing. It was a real fun day with lots of powder on the ground for us to pick up on turns. I was pretty shaky with all of it and fell a couple times. It has been a full year since I even thought about skiing. By the end of the day I was wiped, so tired and super sore. That night Glen hyped up some spaghetti sauce that he loves with only four ingredients. Honestly, really good spaghetti. Late that night my cousin Mark got into town.

The following day was another one full of skiing. We did get lunch at the Stein Erikson Lodge which is some of the best food in Utah. Last year when we had it I had the best scallops ever and have tried to make them ever since. I dream about those scallops, so I was super excited to finally get them again. They had no scallops. It was terrible. I was sad. Very sad. The food was fine, but my stomach had been acting up the entire trip so I could not eat as much as I wanted to. Finished out the day of skiing and watched the GoPro videos that we had filmed during the day. We ate nachos and then watched Downhill Racer, a movie Glen really wanted to watch. It was terrible.

The next day I had a lot of work to get done so I sat out of skiing so that I could actually get it done. Before I could do it though I had lots of errands to run so it was noon before I got home. I was able to write a skit for Chi Alpha before the day was done. I have done about the same today. We started with taking Michael to the airport and then making a return on some pants, now I’m writing this as I watch football. The browns are currently winning 14-10 and Nick Chubb just broke off a 30+ run. We might get a live touchdown here, or maybe not who knows? As the day continues I need to plan the video for Chi Alpha and probably write a second skit just in case Bob doesn’t like the one I wrote yesterday.

So yeah, that’s the week. Tomorrow we fly back to Texas and I have a couple days to get ready for Chi Alpha and New York. I will likely miss the deadline for next week with a very busy Sunday plan. The browns did not score. Disappointing. Maybe Myles will get a safety. Maybe. Oh well, see ya later skater!
